What We Believe
In One Word: Jesus.
Jesus of Nazareth, the promised Saviour-King of Israel and indeed the world, the Christ, He is a really, really, big deal to us. His global, gathered people over two millennia, His church, would not exist without Him and likewise Two Rivers Church.
We are all about Jesus: worshiping Him, adoring Him, following Him, living like He did, doing what He did and what He asks us to do. You can read more in our Statement of Faith below.
HE IS THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD, THE FIRSTBORN OF ALL CREATION. FOR BY HIM ALL THINGS WERE CREATED, IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH, VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE, WHETHER THRONES OR DOMINIONS OR RULERS OR AUTHORITIES – ALL THINGS WERE CREATED THROUGH HIM AND FOR HIM.
– Colossians 3:15-16
Statement of Faith
We believe that there is one living and true God, who is infinite and all-knowing. God is the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness and worthy of all honor, confidence, and love. God has revealed Himself as one God, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, distinguishable yet indivisible.
Genesis 1:1, Exodus 3:13-15, Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Psalms 90:2, Isaiah 6:3, Isaiah 57:15, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30, John 15:26, II Corinthians 13:14, Hebrews 3:4, Hebrews 9:14, 1 Peter 1:1-2, Revelation 4:6-11.
We believe in the person of God the Father who reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 32:6, Isaiah 64:8, Matthew 6:9, Matthew 23:9, John 4:23-24, John 14:6-13, John 17:1-8, Acts 17:26-29, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Galatians 3:26, Ephesians 4:6, 1 Timothy 1:17, Hebrews 12:9, 1 Peter 1:17-19.
We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, is truly God and truly man, he is the divinely appointed mediator between God and man. Having taken upon himself human nature, yet without sin, he perfectly fulfilled the law, suffered, and died upon the cross for the salvation of sinners. He was buried, rose again the third day, and ascended to his Father, at whose right hand he ever lives to make intercession for his people. He will return again visibly and bodily to judge the world and to consummate his redemptive mission.
Psalms 2, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6-7, Isaiah 52:13-53:12, Daniel 7:13-14, Matthew 1:18-25, Matthew 16:13-17, Mark 16:19, Luke 1:26-38, John 1:1- 14; John 8:58, Acts 1:9-11, Romans 1:3-4, Romans 3:23- 26, Romans 8:33-34, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:18-21, Galatians 4:4-5, Philippians 2:5-11, Colossians 1:13-22, Hebrews 1:1-13.
We believe in the Person of the Holy Spirit, His convicting and regenerating work, and abiding presence in the true believer. The Holy Spirit lives inside all true believers and has been sent to be the comforter, teacher, and guide of the Christian Church. He enables believers to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit and to operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the Scriptures.

We believe in the Bible, God’s written Word, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that it was fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and written without error (inerrant) in the original manuscripts. We believe it is the supreme and final authority in all matters addressed within it.
Psalm 19:7-10, Proverbs 30:5-6, Matthew 5:17-20, Luke 21:33, Luke 22:44-47, John 5:39, John 17:17, Acts 5:27-29, II Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Peter 1:23-25, 2 Peter 1:20-2.
We believe God created humanity in his image, free from sin and in relationship with Him. But humans rebelled against God through Adam’s sin. As a result, all human beings are alienated from God, corrupted in every aspect of their being and condemned finally and irrevocably to death — apart from God’s own gracious intervention. The supreme need of all human beings is to be reconciled to the God under Whose just and holy wrath we stand. And the only hope of all human beings is the unearned love of this same God, who alone can rescue us and restore us to Himself.
Genesis 1:27, Genesis 1:31, Genesis 2:16-17, Genesis 3:6-24, Genesis 6:12, Psalms 51:5, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 1:18-2:16, Romans 3:9-19, Romans 5:12-19, Galatians 3:22, Ephesians 2:1-3.
We believe in the salvation of sinners by the gift of grace through repentance and faith in the perfect and sufficient work of Jesus Christ. He honoured the divine law by His personal obedience. By His death, He made a full atonement for our sins by His crucifixion by which forgiveness of sins is granted.
Psalms 34:15-22, Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 20:28, John 3:14-17, Romans 3:21-26, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Galatians 4:4-5, Ephesians 2:1-10, Philippians 2:6-8, Hebrews 7:25-26, Hebrews 9:12-15, 1 John 4:9-10.
We believe that sanctification is the process by which we are made partakers of His holiness. Sanctification is dedication to God and separation from evil. In experience it is both instantaneous and progressive. It is produced in the life of the believer by the appropriation of the power of Christ's blood and risen life through the person of the Holy Spirit. Believers who sin must repent and seek forgiveness through faith in the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ.
Joshua 24:14-15, John 15:15-16, Acts 13:48, 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, 1 Corinthians 3:5-7, Galatians 1:15-17, Ephesians 1:3-14, 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14, 2 Peter 1:10-11.
We believe in water baptism by immersion as a confession by the believer in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and as an expression of faith and obedience to God’s command. Baptism is symbol of our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life.
Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:37-38, Acts 8:38, Romans 6:3-6.
We believe the assurance of salvation is the privilege of all who are born again by the Holy Spirit through faith in Christ. Followers of Jesus are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation. A true, personal assurance of knowing Christ comes by joyful obedience to His commandments resulting in love, gratitude and obedience toward God.

We believe that the Church is a company of the called-out ones, the body of Christ, where all believers join to pursue the work of the ministry of Jesus Christ and fulfilling the great commission. Believers are to gather regularly in Christ’s name to devote themselves to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer. The local church is governed by the scriptures and operates under the Lordship of Jesus Christ with pastor-elders shepherding, leading and overseeing the disciples toward faithfulness in Christ.
