Goodness

It's wild to imagine that there was a time when everything was good. In the beginning when God created the earth and everything in it, He said it was very good. That included us. We were designed for goodness in the likeness of God. 

But It didn't last long. We had true freedom and we threw it away.  God has a good plan, a will for our life but we like Adam reject the freedom of His design and take what isn't meant for us. 

When we turn from Gods design, we let go of our spirit given ability for goodness. How can we demonstrate goodness if we are not holding fast to Gods will?

1 Peter 2:15-16 says "For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God."

Just as I can imagine goodness in the beginning of creation when everything was right. I can also see a glimmer of goodness in a new born baby. Yes, I know we are all born with a sinful nature but in the first few days and weeks I find it hard to imagine my babies ever doing anything wrong. 

It's as if they are so unaware of the world around them, they don't even consider acting outside of Gods design. I would also like to be so unconcerned about the world and instead be consumed by the goodness of God.

Psalm 23:6 "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
